year old daughter physically abused by other students?

Question

year old daughter physically abused by other students?
My friends year old daughter was pinned to the ground, her trousers and underwear were pulled down a few inches and grass was forced into her mouth. When her mum arrived at school to collect her and was told what had happened by her daughter she went into to speak to the head about it and was told by him that he had dealt with the matter and that the matter was now closed. She had no opportunity to discuss it with him. When she asked her daughter what had happened to the other two girls who had done this to her she said the head made them apologise to her and then they were sent back to class. Does anyone think this was a suitable reprimand and should the school have taken it more seriously? Should the school have informed the parents of all the children concerned? What action, if any, should my friend take as she does not feel this has been resolved satisfactorily?

Answer

In your position, I would write to the Head with a copy to the Chair of Governors stating that you are not happy with the way this was dealt with. Inform himher that they do have a legal responsiblity to keep your child safe and that if anything similar happens again, you will be taking it to the Education Authority and, if the kids involved are over , the police. It is probably too late now to do anything about these kids for this assault but keep a look out for any further bullying. This does need to be nipped in the bud and letting the school staff know that you will not take their ineficiancy lying down will help protect your child.brbrIf the other childrens parents are OK to talk to I would have a word with them saying you dont want it to go any further in the school system but you will not allow their kids to attack your child. brbrOn the other hand, the Head might have done more but that is between him and the other girls maybe he has threatened any more incidents and the parents will be informed or suspension will follow. He definately should have discussed it further though!
